I got a wisdom tooth taken out 7 days ago. A couple hours ago, the extraction site started getting sore. The soreness is gradually getting worse. I’ve been taking care of the site the way the oral surgeon instructed me to. Could this be a possible dry socket?

Gum pain where wisdom teeth use to be?

I have a small swollen point in my gum. It’s on my lower jaw, where my wisdom tooth use to be (they were removed 2 years ago). It’s painful and I think it’s a gum infection. What are the symptoms of a gum infection? What are the treatments? How can I have healthier teeth? I brush and floss and use floride rinse but I still always have problems with cavaties and i’m afraid of dentists. I have made an appointment with a dentist for my gum pain but i’m just wondering what the problem is and what he’ll most likely do for it. Thanks!

Any cures to stop the pain from wisdom teeth?

Im not sure if i have a new wisdom tooth trying to come through on the lower right of my mouth, or, if it is the one i already have at the top rubbing on the gum – but either way its causing me no end of pain!

Ive been putting Jack Daniels on it, taking paracetamol and drinking coffee – but nothing seems to really help!

Does anyone have a miracle cure to stop it from hurting so much – apart from going to the dentist because i’m not registered at one and i cant afford to visit!

I cant take the pain of it anymore, and i have a feeling something terrible is happening in my mouth with my lower right wisdom tooth. However i have a trip planned here in two weeks that i CANNOT miss! But how can i go on with this pain?! So if i was to have some ‘emergency surgery’ done. Will i still be all swollen and in serious pain for the trip and able to go?!

okay so im in total pain right now cuz my wisdom tooth is coming out…this happens every couple of months for like a week or two! which sucks cuz i cant even eat anything..i mean i do loose weight but still sucks balls! anyway i wanted to know after you get them pulled out how long does that pain last. Is is hours? days? let me know…

Thanks :D

I am scheduled to have my upper left wisdom tooth extracted next Monday. I am very nervous. It is not impacted, and I will be keeping my other 3 wisdom teeth. The one getting extracted has decay and is broken. I will be awake for the procedure. (I was given the option of IV sedation but the oral surgeon said he thinks all I need is oral sedation so he gave me a presciption for a sedative called Halcion that I am to take 1 hour before the extraction, and an antibiotic that I will be starting the day of the extraction.) The surgeon warned me that I may feel about 20 pounds of pressure while he is extracting the tooth, which sounds so frightening to me. He also warned me that the tooth will probably break as he pulls it. I am very nervous and don’t know what to expect during & after the procedure, and if I should be worried about any side effects with Halcion. Also I have a very senstive gag reflex and am wondering if I should be worried about that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I got a wisdom tooth out 2 days ago, it was just with local freezing, nothing major. It didn’t hurt that much the day I got it out. Yesterday, the day after the extraction, it hurt a bit on and off, in the morning and in the evening. Today it actually hurt more, the adjacent tooth throbbing like crazy.

Is this normal?

I had my molar, the one next to my wisdom tooth removed five days ago. It was extracted due to unsubsiding pain after I’ve had taken a lot of different medicines. Before the extraction they had my teeth x-rayed and saw that my wisdom tooth is soon to erupt from the gum but unfortunately it cannot because my molar is blocking it.It was an impacted wisdom tooth(but not in a very bad condition). Now,after my molar was extracted, the gum where my wisdom is,started to swell.I developed a clot but half of it now is gone because the gum was stretched when it swell.I am experiencing pain in the area but not much.It comes & goes just like lightning. Is it normal?Or i may develop dry socket? Please help.. this is really bothering me considering this is my first tooth extraction ever..Thanks a lot!

I had my 2 upper teeth, and my lower left wisdom tooth removed 3 weeks ago. My dentist said that my lower tooth was very hard. The left side of my mouth still hurts a lot of the time, both top & bottom are in pain. It feels like the molars that are still in my mouth hurt, but I can’t really tell, it may be my jaw. Is this normal?

I had a very difficult extraction of my lower wisdom tooth by an oral surgeon. The procedure lasted over an hour and consisted of the dentist drilling little pieces of my tooth off to get it out. (the tooth was in down under the skin sideways near my jaw)
My jaw is also so achy and I am still on soft foods (I can’t even eat noodles!). I tried but today I am paying for it. I had the tooth out on Friday and I didn’t go to work today. How long will I be out for? I am 28yrs old..not a teen
I also still have numbess in my chin and lip area because of nerve damage

Can tooth decay cause neurological side effects?

I have been suffering from depersonalization disorder and have been unable to recover. My dad asked today if I had any dental problems. I have a wisdom tooth that came in sideways and has basically become a giant cavity because I cannot get the tooth brush to reach. I haven’t had it removed due to finances and he suggested that maybe this was attributing to my depersonalization symptoms. I know that tooth decay can cause physical health problems but wasn’t sure if it could cause neurological side effects. Anyone know the answer to this?

Can wisdom teeth cause pain in my jaw?

I have a wisdom tooth growing at my left-lower corner of my mouth.

Whenever i bite down gently or open my mouth really wide the left side of my jaw hurts! I can’t even chew with the left side of my mouth anymore.

Can my wisdom tooth be causing this pain? It’s still growing and erupting through my gums…i haven’t seen a dentist in a while and i’m 14 if that helps.

I am scheduled to have my upper left wisdom tooth extracted tomorrow morning. I am 35 years old, but feel like a baby because I am so EXTREMELY nervous. It is not impacted, and I will be keeping my other 3 wisdom teeth. The one getting extracted has decay and is broken. I will be awake for the procedure. The oral surgeon gave me a presciption for a sedative called Halcion that I am to take 1 hour before the extraction, and an antibiotic that I will be starting the day of the extraction. The surgeon warned me that I may feel about 20 pounds of pressure while he is extracting the tooth, which sounds so frightening to me. He also warned me that the tooth will probably break as he pulls it. I am very nervous and don’t know what to expect during & after the procedure, and if I should be worried about any side effects with Halcion. Also I have a very senstive gag reflex and am worried about that. I am also worried about the crunch noise, and about how they get the tooth out if it breaks.

I had my lower right wisdom tooth extracted 3 days ago. The dentist said it was a simple extraction and i should have very little pain, however i have had lots of pain and am now feeling pain in my top teeth. Should i be worried or is this just referred pain?
Thanks, my wisdom tooth wasn’t impacted, in fact the only problem i had with it was i cracked it on an olive pip. I’ve noticed the pain in my top teeth is worst after eating.

What to do about pain from wisdom teeth?

My top left wisdom tooth needs to be removed, and is causing extreme pain throughout my top left jaw, and a little above, towards just under my eye.

I cannot have it removed for another three weeks, and the pain is driving me crazy. What can I do to ease the pain until I have it removed?

I’ve never had bad breath, but since my wisdom tooth has been coming through my gum my breath is smelly :( and i have no idea how to fix it even if i brush my teeth the smell is still there? How can i fix this? Besides getting it taken out not an option. Help im so self-concious!

Does emerging wisdom teeth always accompany pain?

I ask because my gums in the back of my mouth is receding because what appears to be my wisdom tooth growing in. It doesn’t hurt at all though. I am just wondering is the pain inevitable, or is there some rare cases of one not experiencing pain when they grow in?

I am having one wisdom tooth pulled sometime in the next couple of weeks. It is an upper tooth. (I am 35 years old.)The tooth is not impacted. It is broken and has decay. I will be awake during the procedure, with just novocaine to numb the area. The oral surgeon and his assistant said I will not feel pain but I will feel up to about 20 pounds of pressure. This sounds extremely scary to me. Also, he gave me a prescription for Halcion, which he wants me to take before the extraction. I am also nervous about that, as I am very senstitive to medication, but he said all it will do is relax me and that it will also relax my jaw which will make it easier and faster for him to extract the tooth. I want it to be as easy and fast as possible so I am planning on taking the Halcion before my appointment. Has anyone had any experience? I am curious about reactions to Halcion and what to expect to feel when I take it, and about the pain and/or pressure I may feel during the extraction. Thanks!

Wisdom Teeth Pain: How to get rid of it?

I’ve been experiencing excruciating pain from my right side wisdom tooth and I don’t know what to do to get rid of it. Painkillers are a joke. Any suggestions on a good, quick solution so I can get some relief? Thanks a lot.

I got my wisdom tooth removed almost 2 weeks ago and I’m having bad breath, pains, and ooze after night. Why is this?

how do you stop wisdom teeth pain?

the whole left side of my face has been swollen for a few days. my wisdom tooth has been trying to come in for the past few months & it hasn’t. instead it will just hurt for like a few days & then the swelling will go down & it’ll be normal again. my question is what can i do to stop the swelling & pain? i dont have any health insurance & i am not in the position to pay out of pocket for this procedure.

I have toothache in my bottom left molar, 3 in front of the wisdom tooth but when I look at it in a mirror the tooth looks fine. Obviously, I’m not a dentist, so there might still be a cavity, but it looks ok.

Thing is, the tooth behind it has a TINY hole in it, on the top of the tooth in one of the pits – I thought there was something black stuck in it, but after brushing my teeth it was still there, and I got a pin and discovered it’s actually a small hole which is black in colour. I’m assuming this is a cavity in the tooth?

Could the cavity in this tooth be causing the toothache in the tooth in front of it? I also have pain in the molar 3 from the back on the top, could the pains all be linked to a cavity in a tooth that DOESN’T hurt?!!

I know I’m going to have to go to a dentist, but I’m not registered with one, and I need to find one who’ll treat me on the NHS – I can’t afford to go private.

My back wisdom tooth is trying to come in crooked and the whole side of my jaw hurts with pain going into my ear and pains shooting up towards my eye.

What to do to help wisdom teeth pain?

My wisdom tooth is coming in and its made my gum swell a bit and i cant chew and it hurts a lot and i cant close my mouth all the way and it sucks how much it’s sore. please help
im looking for something i can rub on my gums that the tooth is coming out of, i think. cuz that’s wat really hurts and is causing me to not be able to chew since its a bit swollen. maybe home remedies?

I had my lower right wisdom tooth break the surface last year and then found out I was prego and knew I couldn’t really do anything about it so with the pain gone from it erupting I let it go. Now a year later I am having major ear pains but no ear infection and no jaw pain. Could I still have impacted wisdom teething causing the ear pain though without the actual tooth pain?
