Sonicare toothbrush and receding gums?

I noticed my gums were receding about a year ago and I have been trying to prevent any further recession. I am using a soft bristle toothbrush and brushing correctly, but I am thinking of getting a Sonicare toothbrush. Which one would be best for me to use, the Sonicare or regular soft bristle toothbrush? Will the Sonicare help or hurt my receding gums?

The substance is soft, off-white, located near and under my gumline and occurs only on a few teeth. When using a gum stimulator, a device with a pointed tip, I can go close to the gumline or under the gumline and scrape this stuff off.

I’ve tried finding answers online. Is this bad or good to scrape off? I also have receding gums. Is this material connective tissue or connective fibers left over as the gums start to recede? Does scraping this off prevent gums from reattaching to the teeth?

Or is this material plaque-like substance that is necessary to remove before it forms into other harmful substances, e.g. plaque?

Are my gums receding?

I’m seeing my dentist in a few days but I’m still concerned.. I got an on-lay on a few bottom teeth over a year ago, but ever since my molar was re-done, along the gumline on the outside of my tooth has been EXCEPTIONALLY sensitive. Initially my dentist said it wasn’t decay and just to use the rx sensitivity toothpaste….it hasn’t worked, and it’s still quite sensitive to all temperatures, and even if i press it lightly with my finger. The other molar on the left side now is getting the same thing….

Does this mean I’ll need a graft? Or are there other ways of curving the sensitivity?

Thanks.
Hey doc, I use the Colgate sensitive toothpaste that you can only get in the doctor’s office. (white and pink bottle) They also had made me a little mold of my teeth to use the tray to decrease sensitivity. it wasnt a permanent solution- i did do it for 2 weeks everyday for a half hour.

I have an electric brush and i use it on the soft setting.

The sensitivity has gotten worse over the past year so I’m just curious if it’s actually receding gums or some mystery problem..

Receding gumline procedure?

Even though I take great care of my teeth, brush and floss, etc, my dentist said I had receding gums over my, bicuspids I think they are (top right middle), and my insurance wouldn’t cover it after June. So I said, let me think about it. I called back to ask about it, like what exactly would be done, and they couldn’t tell me anything about it (dentist is not American, not to sound racist). I don’t want to just get something done that could be a problem later on, but I don’t want to leave it if it could get worse. It’s not painful, but I have very sensitive teeth. I’ve tried WebMD, but that didn’t help. Does anyone know what they do for this, and if there could be complications, or if my teeth, which are pretty nice, will look funny/color not match? I’d rather not go to another dentist for a second opinion if possible.

Which part of smoking cause receding gums?

Is it the tabacco or tar or smoke, etc? that causes receding gums?

I have to have surgery soon on my receding gums, so they are skin graphing skin onto them. I wanted to know if anyone has had this done and if so what can I expect?

Is it possible to reverse receding gums?

Yes, it is! Here’s how you do it (keeping in mind that this cannot, legally, be taken as medical advice since only a medical doctor can prescribe such a thing):

Natural, organic raw foods. Make sure the meat you eat is free range, organic, and without any preservatives.

Astaxanthin. 16-20mg per day, or to bowel tolerance.

High amounts of calcium, potassium, boron, and magnesium. Coral calcium is good for this.

Vitamin C to bowel tolerance.

Do all the cleanses (kidney, liver, colon, parasites, candida, heavy metal, full body fat cleanse)

There you have it. If you have receding gums, you can now shock your dentist in just a few months or even weeks.
Keep in mind that the body has the ability to repair itself. It can reverse any degenerative disease if we just give it the nutrients it needs and get rid of the stuff it doesn’t like (toxins). You’d be amazed at how powerful the body is at repairing itself.
And yes, I meant reverse. Gum tissue can grow back.

i have receding gums caused by over-zealous brushing.
overall oral health is ok as i see the dentist twice a year.
thanks for answering my question.

How do you fix receding gums?

I would like to know if anyone has tips on preventing and treating receding gums.

I don’t feel comfortable w/the procedure, is this the only way to treat receding gums? How safe/difficult is the whole procedure? How do l know my doctor are trained in it even he said he’s very capable? How common is this? Thanks.

receding gums?

On the lower two canine teeth I have receding gums from over brushing. Anyone out there who has gone through the procedure of gum graft, can you tell me the pains and things like that.

Receding Gums?

I’m 25 and already have several teeth with receding gums. I have no cavities and my teeth are in good condition. My dentist said that it’s caused by my incorrect brushing (brushing too hard). Is there anything that I can do to fix this? I know that gums don’t grow back but is there anything to help it NOT recede any further? Also, the exposed upper part of the tooth is sensitive to the touch. Is this how its going to be forever?

Please help..I need my teeth!

If anything it would be for a minor case of receding gums. I have insurance (Aetna DMO). I know this is completely subjective, but any ballpark figures would help. I’m talking about where they graft tissue, I guess.

I have receding gums on 5 lower teeth,is anything l can do to help the situation? Like mouthwash? My dentist suggests that l do a tissue graft, but l don’t have insurance and it cost quit a bit. It doesn’t hurt ,but l don’t want to get worst.

I have bad receding gums and I have to get like a skin graft on my gums. They are taking a strip off the roof of my mouth and sewing it to the front of my gums on both the top and bottom. How many days should I expect to take off work to recover? I am hoping I can take a Thursday and Friday and use Saturday and Sunday to my advantage- I hate taking off of work!

I have an issue with receding gums. I actually just noticed a little notch where my gum meets a tooth and it is very sensitive. I went to the dentist and he put something on it, but that was it. I want to do anything I can to keep my teeth healthy and not let this problem continue. What mouthwash/toothpaste, etc. is the best to slow the recession of my gums and protect my teeth?

Receding gums?

My gums are receding like an old man’s hair line. I’m almost 20 years old! I don’t wanna lose my teeth or anything! I’ve already had 6 teeth bonded where the gums are receding around them. It’s painful and I don’t know what to do!! I’ve gone to the dentist and he’s just like "we can either bond or do skin grafts" and he doesn’t tell me what the problem is. Is it genetic, because my 28 year old brother has the same thing, but my parents don’t. Is it from brushing teeth too much or too hard? Is it something to do with chewing gum all the time or the types of food I eat? Please help! I don’t want to have to get my teeth bonded again or start getting skin grafts! I brush my teeth usually 3 times a day. I floss and use ACT mouthwash every night. I chew sugarless gum all the time. But I still get cavities and I still get receding gums. I am scared of losing my teeth!
how come people never answer my questions?
So….like every question around mine is answered and has like 10 or more answers….mine has 0….this is bull shit.
