My gumline had receded a noticeable level and the teeth now looks longer. What can I do to restore my gumline back to where it was?
Also I hadn’t been to the dentist in 5 years (mostly because I don”t have dental insurance) and finally went last week to a dental school to get x-rays and cleaning done by a supervised student. They looked at the x-ray films and told me I have periodontal (gum) disease. My premolar and molar pockets measured between 4mm-5mm with one 6mm and one 8mm pocket around the first molar on top left. They treated it with a scaling and rooting planning treatment(deep cleaning). Now my entire mouth feels much healthier. My gums don’t bleed anymore and my mouth even taste better. I was told that if I did my homework (daily efficient brushing and flossing) and had regular dental checkups then the disease can be arrested and my gums will heal and attach again making the pockets smaller. Their bigger concern was the 8mm pocket which they are referring me to a specialist for. I made an appointment with one the next day but the appointment isn’t for another 4 weeks. Do you think the specialist list can do anything for my disease? I would like to keep all my teeth. I have promised myself I will brush and floss daily along with using mouthwash and have regular visits with my dentist from now on.

I’m seeing my dentist in a few days but I’m still concerned.. I got an on-lay on a few bottom teeth over a year ago, but ever since my molar was re-done, along the gumline on the outside of my tooth has been EXCEPTIONALLY sensitive. Initially my dentist said it wasn’t decay and just to use the rx sensitivity toothpaste….it hasn’t worked, and it’s still quite sensitive to all temperatures, and even if i press it lightly with my finger. The other molar on the left side now is getting the same thing….
Does this mean I’ll need a graft? Or are there other ways of curving the sensitivity?
Thanks.
Hey doc, I use the Colgate sensitive toothpaste that you can only get in the doctor’s office. (white and pink bottle) They also had made me a little mold of my teeth to use the tray to decrease sensitivity. it wasnt a permanent solution- i did do it for 2 weeks everyday for a half hour.
I have an electric brush and i use it on the soft setting.
The sensitivity has gotten worse over the past year so I’m just curious if it’s actually receding gums or some mystery problem..

Is the implant screwed into the hole left by the roots of the pulled tooth or does the periodontist have to drill deeper into the jawbone?
Additionally: if more bone has to be grafted to the jawbone, where does this bone-graft come from? Is it synthetic?
Also: what are the odds of damaging the mandibular nerve when implanting a lower molar?

Okay so the last week, i’ve been having A LOT of trouble with my jaw.
It’s been throbbing for hours on the spot, and my back molar is extremely sensitive when biting down (meaning i can’t eat anything solid as it’s sheer agony)
On closer inspection, it looks like my wisdom teeth are coming through.
Could my wisdom teeth coming through, cause problems with ONE tooth?

I had my molar, the one next to my wisdom tooth removed five days ago. It was extracted due to unsubsiding pain after I’ve had taken a lot of different medicines. Before the extraction they had my teeth x-rayed and saw that my wisdom tooth is soon to erupt from the gum but unfortunately it cannot because my molar is blocking it.It was an impacted wisdom tooth(but not in a very bad condition). Now,after my molar was extracted, the gum where my wisdom is,started to swell.I developed a clot but half of it now is gone because the gum was stretched when it swell.I am experiencing pain in the area but not much.It comes & goes just like lightning. Is it normal?Or i may develop dry socket? Please help.. this is really bothering me considering this is my first tooth extraction ever..Thanks a lot!

I got my wisdom teeth removed last Thursday at ten am. I went through all the usual pain, all that jazz, & now, on the sixth day after removal, the only thing that’s really bothering me is pain in my other teeth on the bottom right side of my mouth. When I bite down, they’re extremely tender and sore. My molar furthest back is the one that’s causing me the most pain. Is this normal, & is there anything I can do to ease the pain?

Or is this yet another unnecessary medical procedure being recommended? Several dentists think I should, my friend an ER doc says, "why? you have no pain, your teeth have stopped growing." I also have a 5% risk of permanent nerve damage if I have them removed. The risk of molar damage from leaving them in is "highly likely" according to the doc.

wearing off of pain medication and new alignment of the bite for a while? How long will they hurt? Had wisdom, #32 and molar #31 removed. Been a week now. Still taking 2 motrin twice a day for pain. Trying to slow down the pain meds.

I went to the dentist today because my left cheek looked like i had a ping pong ball inside it. I had x-rays and he said my left bottom molar was erupting but that i have enough room and they are coming in straight so they do not have to be removed. He said I could get them removed if i wanted to but i dont know what to do? The pain is terrible and he gave me vicodin and and amoxicillin for infection. How do i get rid of the pain? How long will the pain last? How do I get rid of swelling? And should I get them removed or stand the pain?

I am aware of a cavity in my very back molar. I recently have had pain in most of my teeth on the same side of my mouth. I can’t pinpoint the pain, it hurts all over. It comes and goes.

After getting one wisdom tooth extracted, the gum line on the outside of my last molar near the extraction seems spaced, if that makes sense. Looking at it, it is red and when I feel it with my tongue, there is definitely a bit of a gap between gum and tooth. Is this normal for after a wisdom tooth extraction? Should it get better soon? Thanks in advance.
A bit of a correction, the redness and gap is at the gum spot between the second and third molar.

I have a big molar that is growing in a little late, and there is no space for it to grow in. Well, it already started to come out and it really hurts. How do I reduce the pain? And I am going to pull a few molars out and get braces and retainer.

I have toothache in my bottom left molar, 3 in front of the wisdom tooth but when I look at it in a mirror the tooth looks fine. Obviously, I’m not a dentist, so there might still be a cavity, but it looks ok.
Thing is, the tooth behind it has a TINY hole in it, on the top of the tooth in one of the pits – I thought there was something black stuck in it, but after brushing my teeth it was still there, and I got a pin and discovered it’s actually a small hole which is black in colour. I’m assuming this is a cavity in the tooth?
Could the cavity in this tooth be causing the toothache in the tooth in front of it? I also have pain in the molar 3 from the back on the top, could the pains all be linked to a cavity in a tooth that DOESN’T hurt?!!
I know I’m going to have to go to a dentist, but I’m not registered with one, and I need to find one who’ll treat me on the NHS – I can’t afford to go private.
