I had my 31 tooth pulled last month and my dentist is pushing me to get a titanium screwed in implant. It is the last tooth on lower jaw. The one on the other side needs to be pulled as well. The implants are expensive. The base is running me about 1200 and the crown will be about the same (my insurance will cover the crown but it maxes out at a 1000).
I am wondering if I even need it. I am eating just fine without it. I have been reading that a full lower teeth replacement only includes 24 teeth which is what I would have left after the two bottom are pulled.
He showed me this video he has where it shows the remaining teeth you have falling out like dominos if you don’t get this. Does this really happen or is this a rare case?
I am seeing the specialist for a consult today, but I am sure he will say the same thing. Sometimes, I think some dentist are more salesman that dentist (atleast that is how I feel about mine).

My teeth are killing me. The pain is unbarable sharp and I dont know why. I don’t have any cavities so thats out of the picture. The pain just comes and goes and when it comes its so painful that I basically scream my head off and it last for like ten minutes. Does anyone know and I dont have dental insurance so please don’t say go see one.

I need a tooth implant for one of my front teeth, and my dentist told me it would cost k total (implant, crown and care). This sounds absurd to me. Anyone know of what the total cost is for a single implant, in general (total cost, meaning implant, crown and care)? I feel like I am getting ripped off, and my insurance will not cover any of it.

As a kid my baby tooth fell out and I had no adult tooth underneath it. It is my 3rd to the last tooth on the bottom right. My bite or smile isn’t affected at all…yet at least. I noticed the teeth to the left and right have receding gumline. This is the only area where it’s present. After insurance my bridge is 0. What should I do? If someone has 1 missing tooth and they have healthy gums, but they are missing 1 tooth what usually can happen if they just leave it alone the rest of their life?

About two months ago I hurt my gum while brushing. And started experiencing inflammation, severe toothaches and my gums also began to bleed and everyday it gets worse and worse. I don’t have insurance or money to go to the dentist. And I wanted to know how to treat it at home or if there’s any over the counter medicine I can buy to treat it.

Can it get worse? Do you loose your teeth eventually? What eventually happens? Have you had the grafting done and how did it turn out? How many teeth? How much did it cost & how much did your insurance cover? I have no gingiva on 2 back molars.

Let me know what your experience is with having a tooth extracted. Mine is way loose, I bit on chicken bone/cartlidge. Did anyone get a tooth implant and how much did it cost you b/c my insurance doesn’t cover it. Thanks for responding.

Even though I take great care of my teeth, brush and floss, etc, my dentist said I had receding gums over my, bicuspids I think they are (top right middle), and my insurance wouldn’t cover it after June. So I said, let me think about it. I called back to ask about it, like what exactly would be done, and they couldn’t tell me anything about it (dentist is not American, not to sound racist). I don’t want to just get something done that could be a problem later on, but I don’t want to leave it if it could get worse. It’s not painful, but I have very sensitive teeth. I’ve tried WebMD, but that didn’t help. Does anyone know what they do for this, and if there could be complications, or if my teeth, which are pretty nice, will look funny/color not match? I’d rather not go to another dentist for a second opinion if possible.

We had a fairly casual oral hygeine routine for my 22-month old until recently we noticed bad breath and more plaque buildup (we assumed it was due to changing diet). After beginning a more aggressive brushing routine, we noticed the top half of his upper front teeth have moderate decay. (The rest of his teeth are spotless
) Our dental insurance kicks in in two weeks, and I have two questions: given that we are now taking scrupulous care of his teeth, will it advance quickly enough that we should run him to a dentist RIGHT NOW and deal with the debt, or will it hold steady? And two, can I cause more damage to his teeth through incautious cleaning until they are repaired? Please, I’m begging anyone with dental training to help me.
We don’t smoke. He doesn’t drink soda and eat candy, or sleep with a bottle of chocolate milk. We just did a bad job cleaning that area, and a worse job checking on it. It got dirty, stayed dirty, and rotted.
I also forgot to mention that he does not seem to be in pain, or we would not consider waiting so long…

My wisdom teeth are really starting to cause a great deal of pain. I don’t have insurance and have no way of paying to get them removed at this time. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to ease the pain until I can get together some money to help pay to get them taken out.(I’ve been using oragel and it only works for a very, very short period of time.) Thank you.

I brush my teeth twice a day but I have tartar build up because I haven’t had dental insurance since I was fourteen. My gums are a little swollen right now and will randomly start bleeding when I brush them.

Arestin is an antibiotic that is injected into the gum pockets when scaling and root planing is done. The stuff is expensive and my insurance doesn’t pay for it. Is it worth it?

She’s not keen on the idea of dentures, but her teeth are pretty bad. What are some options?
She doesn’t have insurance so it will be out of pocket. We know it’s expensive, but we’re trying to find the LEAST expensive option.

I had my wisdom teeth removed a week ago, and I am still having pain in the tooth that was next to the horizontally impacted one. It really hurts when I chew and also when I just leave it alone. I don’t think I have a cavity. Is this normal? What can I do to relieve the pain? I just spent a lot of money on the wisdom teeth surgery, and I don’t have insurance, so I really can’t go back to the dentist. Will the pain go away after a while?

the whole left side of my face has been swollen for a few days. my wisdom tooth has been trying to come in for the past few months & it hasn’t. instead it will just hurt for like a few days & then the swelling will go down & it’ll be normal again. my question is what can i do to stop the swelling & pain? i dont have any health insurance & i am not in the position to pay out of pocket for this procedure.
