I bleed often when I brush and my gums seem a little red and inflamed. Will a 50/50 mix of 3% hydrogen peroxide and water help to reduce the inflammation and stop my gum bleeding? My teeth are also pretty sensitive to air or wind, and extreme temperatures (hot, cold).

Mostly have pain after I have eaten or when I’m laying down but occasionally some throbbing when doing neither of these things. The gums around my other teeth are swollen too…is this normal? I am on antibiotics for an infection I developed day two after surgery.

My gumline had receded a noticeable level and the teeth now looks longer. What can I do to restore my gumline back to where it was?
Also I hadn’t been to the dentist in 5 years (mostly because I don”t have dental insurance) and finally went last week to a dental school to get x-rays and cleaning done by a supervised student. They looked at the x-ray films and told me I have periodontal (gum) disease. My premolar and molar pockets measured between 4mm-5mm with one 6mm and one 8mm pocket around the first molar on top left. They treated it with a scaling and rooting planning treatment(deep cleaning). Now my entire mouth feels much healthier. My gums don’t bleed anymore and my mouth even taste better. I was told that if I did my homework (daily efficient brushing and flossing) and had regular dental checkups then the disease can be arrested and my gums will heal and attach again making the pockets smaller. Their bigger concern was the 8mm pocket which they are referring me to a specialist for. I made an appointment with one the next day but the appointment isn’t for another 4 weeks. Do you think the specialist list can do anything for my disease? I would like to keep all my teeth. I have promised myself I will brush and floss daily along with using mouthwash and have regular visits with my dentist from now on.

my friend doesn’t have very good gums. she called me and told me she just ate, then went to brush her teeth and saw a ‘bubble’ on her gum, just right under her tooth…. is it gum disease and can it be treated without going to the dentist?

I recently noticed that some of my teeth are loose (I have all of my permenent teeth) and today noticed that the gums on my bottom set of teeth look inflamed and are a little sore, but the gums on my top set of teeth are okay, they’re light pink. I am really afraid that I have gum disease, is their a way I could stop it like brushing my teeth more, from 2 times a day to 3, or using a new toothbrush (my toothbrush it only about a couple months old)?

I went visit a periodontist for receding gum, they (the ones I have more concern with) recede from the gumline, not the sides of the teeth. He said I had gingivitis, so he did deep cleaning on me; When I came back to do the checkup, he told me my gums were not as "furious" as the first time I came to see him. But he found me bone loss, and wanted me to do bone grafting!
I wanted to take care of the gums first, but he wanted me to do the bone grafting first. Should I get a second opinion from another periodontist? Or should I trust him to do the surgery? He has good reviews from his patients, but my concern is is it necessary to do the surgery now? I’m very unwilling to do any surgery, since nothing is bothering me now, no pain, no abnormal symptoms, no loose teeth… Why should I let them open my gum and stick something inside? What is bone grafting though?

My gumline is receding, but I have none of the symptoms of gum disease. My gums don’t hurt, they don’t bleed, they’re not discolored (I don’t think) and they’re not inflamed, but they’re receding anyways. I’ve tried using a softer toothbrush, I’ve tried flossing more than twice a day (after any time I eat) and I’ve tried using mouthwash, but stopped because I thought it was making things worse.
I’d really like to not have my teeth fall out. Is there anything I can do?

Lately I have been going over my teeth with a dry toothbrush first (it removes plaque better), then brushing again with toothpaste. But it seems that my gums have been receding! Can this be caused by the dry toothbrush (maybe water usually softens the brush)?

I’ve been having pain in my jaw for the past week or so, on the left side. My back teeth really hurt, but I don’t see any swelling in my gums. And my face isn’t swollen on the left side, so I don’t know what’s wrong. Also, I can’t find where the source of the pain is coming from. One moment it feels like it’s coming from my tooth, the next from my jaw bone, etc.
So if anyone can help, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

My gums are receding especially on my bottom front teeth, on the back side and front a little bit. If this gets any worse what is the best bet for me? Gum grafts?

I think my wisdom teeth are coming out on the left side of my mouth. The last top and last bottom teeth hurt, even my gums feel irritated. I cant go to the dentist for a few days, was wondering if whiskey would help soothe pain or if that is an old wives tail. Thanks

The last time I went to the dentist they said that if I didn’t start brushing really good that I could develop gum disease. Tomorrow is my next appointment and unfortunately I haven’t done that good of a job. For the past week or so I’ve been brushing my gums really good but they hurt a lot. Do I have to worry a bunch about it? Can it be reversed if I brush a lot more? What will they most likely do?

I just had my bottom teeth bleach or whitened, not sure what you call it. Its where you have to sit for an hour with this blue light pointed toward your teeth.
My teeth/gums feel sore like having a tooth ache now. It comes and goes, it almost feels like cavities when cold water gets in and hits the nerves.
Is this normal after this procedure?

I have a porcelain dental bridge that has a metal underlay. I am noticing that my gums are receding slightly and there is a pretty obvious grey line at the gumline. Is there any procedure that can be done to reduce this grey line, without having to get an entire new bridge? Would bonding work?

About two months ago I hurt my gum while brushing. And started experiencing inflammation, severe toothaches and my gums also began to bleed and everyday it gets worse and worse. I don’t have insurance or money to go to the dentist. And I wanted to know how to treat it at home or if there’s any over the counter medicine I can buy to treat it.

I have gum disease and am trying to get rid of it now. I am brushing and flossing about four times a day now but my mom also proposed I put salt on it. After doing that, my gums don’t bleed as much anymore, but they hurt so much more. Is salt something used to help treat gum disease or am I just agitating it?

I may have brushed my upper right back teeth too hard, and now my gums are receding there, exposing the teeth a bit more. I am terribly afraid they may become lose one day. How can I reverse that, and make the gums regroup and extend themselves again? Thanks for your expertise!
