How can I get healthy teeth and gum again?

My gumline had receded a noticeable level and the teeth now looks longer. What can I do to restore my gumline back to where it was?

Also I hadn’t been to the dentist in 5 years (mostly because I don”t have dental insurance) and finally went last week to a dental school to get x-rays and cleaning done by a supervised student. They looked at the x-ray films and told me I have periodontal (gum) disease. My premolar and molar pockets measured between 4mm-5mm with one 6mm and one 8mm pocket around the first molar on top left. They treated it with a scaling and rooting planning treatment(deep cleaning). Now my entire mouth feels much healthier. My gums don’t bleed anymore and my mouth even taste better. I was told that if I did my homework (daily efficient brushing and flossing) and had regular dental checkups then the disease can be arrested and my gums will heal and attach again making the pockets smaller. Their bigger concern was the 8mm pocket which they are referring me to a specialist for. I made an appointment with one the next day but the appointment isn’t for another 4 weeks. Do you think the specialist list can do anything for my disease? I would like to keep all my teeth. I have promised myself I will brush and floss daily along with using mouthwash and have regular visits with my dentist from now on.

I always hear that tobacco smokers have a greater risk of developing many different dental and mouth problems. I realize that smoking stains the teeth brownish yellow and causes bad breath(besides causing many serious diseases), but how exactly does it lead to tooth problems like causing cavities and gum disease? Please note, I am a non-smoker, but some people in my family smoke. Does the same go for marijuana smokers, or only tobacco smokers?

I have not been feeling well and I’m trying to explore if my symptoms could be related to gum disease. I am a diabetic and have other health problems. My symptoms are difficult to define, but include: shakyness or a type of tremor right when I wake up in the am, naucea, cold sweats. Can symptoms like this be related to gum disease or cavities?

Gum Disease?

I recently noticed that some of my teeth are loose (I have all of my permenent teeth) and today noticed that the gums on my bottom set of teeth look inflamed and are a little sore, but the gums on my top set of teeth are okay, they’re light pink. I am really afraid that I have gum disease, is their a way I could stop it like brushing my teeth more, from 2 times a day to 3, or using a new toothbrush (my toothbrush it only about a couple months old)?

Gum disease?

Why do people have gum disease? Is that possible from kissing or something like sexual transit?

What's wrong with my gums?

My gumline is receding, but I have none of the symptoms of gum disease. My gums don’t hurt, they don’t bleed, they’re not discolored (I don’t think) and they’re not inflamed, but they’re receding anyways. I’ve tried using a softer toothbrush, I’ve tried flossing more than twice a day (after any time I eat) and I’ve tried using mouthwash, but stopped because I thought it was making things worse.

I’d really like to not have my teeth fall out. Is there anything I can do?

Gum disease?

The last time I went to the dentist they said that if I didn’t start brushing really good that I could develop gum disease. Tomorrow is my next appointment and unfortunately I haven’t done that good of a job. For the past week or so I’ve been brushing my gums really good but they hurt a lot. Do I have to worry a bunch about it? Can it be reversed if I brush a lot more? What will they most likely do?

gum disease?

ok so i am convinced that i have gum disease

i am wondering that if i brush my teeth and gums, is it possible that my gums will heal back to how they were naturally? or will they at least stop erasing?

just as long as i can keep my gums safe enough to hold my teeth, i really do not want to lose them

I didn’t say I had gum disease I’m just trying to avoid it.

Gum disease?

So I went to see my dentist recently and he said my teeth were perfect except at the back I had a tiny bit of gum disease and with careful brushing of the back teeth they would be fine.

But I read in an internet article that gum disease greatly increases risk of tongue cancer? I made sure I really brushed my teeth this morning, and they bled a bit, which I know is ok, but I am just worried if it doesn’t go away… should I worry or am I being silly? Any tips on making gum disease disappear faster?

Does salt help you treat your gum disease?

I have gum disease and am trying to get rid of it now. I am brushing and flossing about four times a day now but my mom also proposed I put salt on it. After doing that, my gums don’t bleed as much anymore, but they hurt so much more. Is salt something used to help treat gum disease or am I just agitating it?
