My gumline had receded a noticeable level and the teeth now looks longer. What can I do to restore my gumline back to where it was?
Also I hadn’t been to the dentist in 5 years (mostly because I don”t have dental insurance) and finally went last week to a dental school to get x-rays and cleaning done by a supervised student. They looked at the x-ray films and told me I have periodontal (gum) disease. My premolar and molar pockets measured between 4mm-5mm with one 6mm and one 8mm pocket around the first molar on top left. They treated it with a scaling and rooting planning treatment(deep cleaning). Now my entire mouth feels much healthier. My gums don’t bleed anymore and my mouth even taste better. I was told that if I did my homework (daily efficient brushing and flossing) and had regular dental checkups then the disease can be arrested and my gums will heal and attach again making the pockets smaller. Their bigger concern was the 8mm pocket which they are referring me to a specialist for. I made an appointment with one the next day but the appointment isn’t for another 4 weeks. Do you think the specialist list can do anything for my disease? I would like to keep all my teeth. I have promised myself I will brush and floss daily along with using mouthwash and have regular visits with my dentist from now on.

I already use sensodine toothpaste and avoid really cold or hot foods. What can I do to get rid of the pain I’m having from just breathing air or drinking room temperature water?
I do brush and floss every day.

I have a small swollen point in my gum. It’s on my lower jaw, where my wisdom tooth use to be (they were removed 2 years ago). It’s painful and I think it’s a gum infection. What are the symptoms of a gum infection? What are the treatments? How can I have healthier teeth? I brush and floss and use floride rinse but I still always have problems with cavaties and i’m afraid of dentists. I have made an appointment with a dentist for my gum pain but i’m just wondering what the problem is and what he’ll most likely do for it. Thanks!

1) How many times a day are you supposed to floss, brush, and mouthwash?
2) What gum is best for bad breath? (brands)

Even though I take great care of my teeth, brush and floss, etc, my dentist said I had receding gums over my, bicuspids I think they are (top right middle), and my insurance wouldn’t cover it after June. So I said, let me think about it. I called back to ask about it, like what exactly would be done, and they couldn’t tell me anything about it (dentist is not American, not to sound racist). I don’t want to just get something done that could be a problem later on, but I don’t want to leave it if it could get worse. It’s not painful, but I have very sensitive teeth. I’ve tried WebMD, but that didn’t help. Does anyone know what they do for this, and if there could be complications, or if my teeth, which are pretty nice, will look funny/color not match? I’d rather not go to another dentist for a second opinion if possible.

I have excellent oral hygiene. I brush two to three times a day, I floss almost daily and I always brush my tongue and gargle with baking soda. I only have two fillings and my teeth and nice and white, gums are nice and pink. My teeth NEVER bleed when I brush or floss them. But I have noticed that two of my teeth (the two sharpish ones at the bottom/front of my mouth) seem to be receding at the gumline. The one on the left is slightly worse than the other one. Why could have caused this? I thought this only happened to people who don’t brush or floss their teeth.

Ok I have been horrible at keeping up with flossing and my gums have been bleeding easily, and receding and very swollen. So I started flossing this past week every other day and they seem a little better but still swollen. And they’ve been bleeding a lot. I’m wondering how often I should floss this week? I want to do every day like I’m supposed to but is every other day better for now or what? I really just want to toughen them up right now and get them healthier!
