I got my wisdom teeth removed almost two weeks ago. My two bottom ones were bony impacted, meaning they were sideways and encased by jaw bone. Apparently the doctor had to cut through the bone to break the tooth and take it out piece by piece. Anyway, the wounds have since healed, but now I am feeling a tightness in my mouth, mostly on the lower part of the inside of my cheek running all the way down to my lower jaw. The site of the wisdom tooth extraction is also still a bit swollen and sore when I press on the outside of my cheek or when my toothbrush accidentally jabs the area. Is this normal for two weeks post-surgery?
Thanks guys!
I understand how you must feel sick of eating soft foods by now; it made me literally nauseous after a while! Don’t worry, in about a few days or so you’ll be able to eat normal foods again, and it will taste delicious!

I’m seeing my dentist in a few days but I’m still concerned.. I got an on-lay on a few bottom teeth over a year ago, but ever since my molar was re-done, along the gumline on the outside of my tooth has been EXCEPTIONALLY sensitive. Initially my dentist said it wasn’t decay and just to use the rx sensitivity toothpaste….it hasn’t worked, and it’s still quite sensitive to all temperatures, and even if i press it lightly with my finger. The other molar on the left side now is getting the same thing….
Does this mean I’ll need a graft? Or are there other ways of curving the sensitivity?
Thanks.
Hey doc, I use the Colgate sensitive toothpaste that you can only get in the doctor’s office. (white and pink bottle) They also had made me a little mold of my teeth to use the tray to decrease sensitivity. it wasnt a permanent solution- i did do it for 2 weeks everyday for a half hour.
I have an electric brush and i use it on the soft setting.
The sensitivity has gotten worse over the past year so I’m just curious if it’s actually receding gums or some mystery problem..

I am about to have my wisdom teeth removed because one is partially impacted and another is partially erupted with the gum grown over it. I am slightly concerned about pain afterwards because honestly my threshold is pretty low. Does the Dentist/Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon usually prescribe enough medications for only the first 24 hours or for a few days. Thanks.

I think my wisdom teeth are coming out on the left side of my mouth. The last top and last bottom teeth hurt, even my gums feel irritated. I cant go to the dentist for a few days, was wondering if whiskey would help soothe pain or if that is an old wives tail. Thanks

I’m 16 years old and I had four wisdom teeth removed three days ago (1 impacted). My cheeks have swelled up more than twice than normal size and my gums where the teeth were removed have been throbbing. I was told that the pain and swelling subside after a few days but a remain skeptical as the pain in my mouth doesn’t feel any better. Does anybody have any extra information or advice about the pain and swelling?

A few weeks ago I noticed that my gumline above one tooth was receding. I went to a dentist, she did some filling on the side of the tooth, I forgot what its called, and she sent me on my way. I wasn’t too satisfied with her, so I went to another dentist and she told me that my bite pattern was causing that tooth to move slightly so the gum was receding because of that. That tooth is now sensitive since the root is getting exposed. Brushing my teeth makes it tingle if I hit it right at the gumline and it is sensitive when eating. The last dentist I went to gave me a pretty thorough cleaning and I have been brushing 3 times a day (with a brand new soft toothbrush), flossing daily, and using Crest Pro Health (Listerine drys my mouth too much). This week I started rinsing my mouth 3 times a day with diluted hydrogen peroxide. I’m due to go back for a filling in a few days.
What else can I do to treat my gum? I don’t want to lose the tooth, I’m only 24!
Thank you

I had a tooth implant on the bottom left side two weeks ago. My gums are pink but swollen at that site. Also, I still have pain although not too bad. Is this normal after 2 weeks? What symptoms would I have if the implant has failed? I haven’t been feeling well the past few days. No fever but just a general sick feeling. I am concerned that it may be related to the implant although it could just be a "bug". I’ll be seeing my dentist tomorrow but would appreciate answers to my question just the same. Thanks!

I have really sensitive teeth and I’d really like to whiten them. I’ve tried using Crest Whitestrips before, but after a few days my teeth start to ache and I have to stop. Is this typical/normal? I am looking for an inexpensive way to whiten my teeth without being irresponsible and damaging them. Any suggestions?

My wisdom teeth are just coming in and they arent able to be removed yet. But for the last few days it hurts so much. Dentist gave me corsodyl which with a cotton bud helps for a few hours then the pain comes back, I was told until they are ready to come out I may have the pain for a few days every 6 months or so but its been hurting for a few days so far, how much longer???

A few days ago I noticed my gumline for a few teeth were receding, so I went to the dentist today. He said it mild and that if I was gentler with brushing my teeth and went in circles, it could still be healed because I’m young. (13) But, I surfed around the internet and apparently, thats not true. Is it?
Also, because of receding gum line, are my teeth going to fall off or something?

I get an ENORMOUS amount of pain after cleaning my wisdom teeth holes. I’ve also been getting really bad pains the past few days randomly. It’s been OVER a week since I got them out and it’s been hurting worse the past few days then first week…I was in at the the oral surgeons yesterday telling them that thinking I may have a dry socket. They said I didnt but didnt offer any other explanations.
Is this normal?
Im really confused. and pained.

Im getting my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow. I received dexamethasone to help the pain for after. But all the people i talk to say they received Vicodin, Percecet, etc. Should i ask my Doctor to prescribe me vicodin and such or is Dexamethasone good enough to relieve the pain im going to go through the next few days?

I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed 5 days ago, and the pain I am still in is unbearable. I have been taking co-cadomol painkillers from the hospital and nurofen. I have had so many painkillers over the last few days that I constantly feel nauseous and fainty. My throat has been been very swollen since the surgery and I can feel the tonsils at the back of my tongue. Please any remedies for jaw pain, sore throat or anything to do wtih wisdom teeth removal would be great!
Thanks

Over the past few days my husband has had really bad breath and it was really bad especially over the weekend. I could smell it from his breath and when he breathed through his nose. He tried rinsing his mouth with mouthwash and of course he brushed his teeth several times. He also tried lemon water and his breath still smelled funky. What would cause really bad breath and what can he do to get rid of the bad breath?
