I always hear that tobacco smokers have a greater risk of developing many different dental and mouth problems. I realize that smoking stains the teeth brownish yellow and causes bad breath(besides causing many serious diseases), but how exactly does it lead to tooth problems like causing cavities and gum disease? Please note, I am a non-smoker, but some people in my family smoke. Does the same go for marijuana smokers, or only tobacco smokers?

I have not been feeling well and I’m trying to explore if my symptoms could be related to gum disease. I am a diabetic and have other health problems. My symptoms are difficult to define, but include: shakyness or a type of tremor right when I wake up in the am, naucea, cold sweats. Can symptoms like this be related to gum disease or cavities?

I feel like I have bad breath. My husband says that I’m imagining it, but I notice that about an hour after brushing my teeth I feel like I have bad breath and my mouth tastes bad. I’ve had my dental check up and have no cavities, and I’ve tried every kind of toothpaste and mouthwash that I can think of. I’m starting to be really selfconcious about it!

My teeth are killing me. The pain is unbarable sharp and I dont know why. I don’t have any cavities so thats out of the picture. The pain just comes and goes and when it comes its so painful that I basically scream my head off and it last for like ten minutes. Does anyone know and I dont have dental insurance so please don’t say go see one.

My teeth are feeling very sensitive lately and the only thing I have been doing regularly is chewing 5 gum. I get my teeth cleaned every 6 mo. and I just went and have no cavities. My teeth are cold and heat sensitive right now.

I just went to the dentist recently…. no cavities, yes!! But the doc says I have bacterias in my gum which can cause gum disease and lead to bigger problem. He recommend that I get my gums a deep cleaning??? Anyway, my appointment is set to 2 weeks from now and Im just very scare becuase I never had a deep cleaning before?? does anyone know what they’re going to do or what they mean by deep cleaning my gums???

I just had my bottom teeth bleach or whitened, not sure what you call it. Its where you have to sit for an hour with this blue light pointed toward your teeth.
My teeth/gums feel sore like having a tooth ache now. It comes and goes, it almost feels like cavities when cold water gets in and hits the nerves.

Hi I have noticed for a while now that the gumline on my right canine has receded a little. I am 19 and I have never had cavities, root canals, or any serious gum or tooth problems in my life. I wear a retainer off and on, although i suspect that it might not be as symmetrical as it should be. Any ideas?

What do I do? I have bad breath and nothing seems to work.. I use mouthwash but it just keeps coming back! Mints don’t work, I’ve tried brushing over and over too! What do I do??

I’m 17 years old and am getting 2 tooth implants a week from today…any advice? How bad do they hurt? Really…cause I’m scared to death (sounds pathetic, I know)…only other dental procedures I’ve had done are getting 6 baby teeth pulled and then getting my gums cut open to place 2 brackets on teeth to pull them down…I had braces for 3 years…and that’s about it. I had my lower wisdom teeth removed years ago and never had any issues with them. I’ve never had any non-traumatic dental problems (I’ve knocked out a few teeth playing hockey, but that’s about it – no cavities or anything). In the last week I’ve had a lot of pain where my wisdom teeth were. Would it be better to see a doctor or a dentist for this kind of issue?

I drink a lot during the day like 7-10 glasses. i used to drink a little bit of soda but have very sensative teeth so i got cavities. then i tried drinking bubbly water but that gave me a ton more cavities. what can i drink besides water ( cause that gets boring ) so that i don’t get cavities and can avoid tooth decay?

I’m 25 and already have several teeth with receding gums. I have no cavities and my teeth are in good condition. My dentist said that it’s caused by my incorrect brushing (brushing too hard). Is there anything that I can do to fix this? I know that gums don’t grow back but is there anything to help it NOT recede any further? Also, the exposed upper part of the tooth is sensitive to the touch. Is this how its going to be forever?

My gums are receding like an old man’s hair line. I’m almost 20 years old! I don’t wanna lose my teeth or anything! I’ve already had 6 teeth bonded where the gums are receding around them. It’s painful and I don’t know what to do!! I’ve gone to the dentist and he’s just like "we can either bond or do skin grafts" and he doesn’t tell me what the problem is. Is it genetic, because my 28 year old brother has the same thing, but my parents don’t. Is it from brushing teeth too much or too hard? Is it something to do with chewing gum all the time or the types of food I eat? Please help! I don’t want to have to get my teeth bonded again or start getting skin grafts! I brush my teeth usually 3 times a day. I floss and use ACT mouthwash every night. I chew sugarless gum all the time. But I still get cavities and I still get receding gums. It feels like I have pressure in my ears and my back teeth really hurt. I went to the dentist, and I don’t have any cavities or tooth issues. I have also been having migraines every day for the past 7 days (genetic migraines brought on by that ‘time o’ the month’). I’ve had migraines many, many times before, but never with tooth and ear pain.
